In this DIY project, Kees shows how he made a rock-solid flight case himself. Ordered customized concrete plywood and plywood okoume waterproof panels for his job. This way he could start immediately. Read more about his approach and experience below.

Description of Kees

I made a special box for my HK speaker set (HK Linear 5 112FA and HK Linear SUB1200), so that I have four can transport speakers in one go, without damaging the speakers. I made the design myself in Solidworks, I ordered the wood cut to size and I ordered the profiles in long lengths. I also ordered the handles, latches and hinges. I ordered all these parts directly from Penn-Elcom.

How I made this project

After unpacking all the plates, I sorted everything and determined what I wanted to start with. First I cut the aluminum profiles to size and drilled holes for the pop rivets. I then modified some plates with a jigsaw for the handles and closures. After this I assembled the box with special pop rivets for wood. I then installed the handles, latches and wheels. Finally, I finished the box with hard foam, so that the speakers are not damaged.
