We have designed our own shelving unit for the living room, filling the wall and from floor to ceiling. We measured the size of the new television and positioned all the boxes around it. The closed cabinets at the bottom are ideal for storing cables and for storing games/game console/watering can/candles. We opted for untreated MDF and painted it white ourselves. Painting took the most time, but once it was done it was definitely worth it!

How I made this project

First we took the measurements in our living room measured, and then pulled off the skirting boards and left a few centimeters of space for the walls and ceiling. (about 3 cm on each side) We then made our design on the computer and ordered it, in blank MDF. It was delivered neatly, and after assembling we gave the cabinet 2 layers of primer (see 1 of the photos) and then 4 layers of water-based satin lacquer to get it good coverage. We used RAL 9016, because we also painted our ceilings this color throughout the house.
