I made a desk of 300.0 cm x 80.0 cm in my new study. I didn't want legs, so I secured the desk to the wall at the back and on both sides. I was afraid the desk would sag, but it has become very strong. It has become a nice workplace for two people. Each workplace has its own cable entry and socket. With a powerdot socket you can charge both a mobile phone and a laptop.

How I made this project

I made a frame from 44 x 44 mm beams. I attached the beams to the wall with 8.0 cm impact plugs. I reinforced the longitudinal beams with reinforcing corners. I screwed on the cross beams. I concealed the screws by pre-drilling with a drilling aid. I then drilled holes with a 60 mm hole saw in the 300.0 x 80.0 cm top panel for all cable entries and sockets and screwed the panel to the frame. I screwed and glued a front panel of 300.0 x 5.0 cm to the frame to neatly finish the front. Finally, I varnished the top and front panel with a transparent primer and varnished three times with a transparent floor varnish with a white wash effect. After painting I sealed the edges with an acrylic sealant. Tips: Most beams are a bit bent and I had secured the beam against the wall with a slight bend. I ended up drilling new holes to get the beam straight. The power dot sockets are screwed to the underside of the table top with a ring, but I had drilled the holes too far back and therefore not enough room for the ring. In the end it worked.
