In addition, the material is extremely matt, due to its low light reflection. Fenix® NTM is also antibacterial, fingerprint-proof and takes on the temperature of the environment. MDF HPL 0720 Nero Ingo: what is it?

MDF is a popular board material that can be used for countless projects. An MDF board is made of dried wood fibres and glue. These wood fibres are then pressed together under high pressure and temperatures to form an MDF board. This makes it a stable board that does not warp easily, and it is extremely suitable as a carrier for HPL or other types of top layers.

MDF HPL 0720 Nero Ingo, sheet material with a HPL topcoat

HPL stands for High Pressure Laminate. It is made by pressing several layers of paper together with a thermosetting synthetic resin. The material is scratch and impact resistant. The structure of HPL is composed with a computer. Therefore, each panel is the same and there is no visible difference in colour or pattern. Panels can be finished with an HPL top layer on one or both sides, see the product properties for more information.

Panels with Fenix® NTM coating

Fenix® NTM materials are high-quality HPL top layers that take the user into account. The material is finished with a multilayer coating that contains a nanotechnology. This gives the Fenix® NTM top layer thermo healing properties. Surface scratches can therefore easily be removed by frictional heat. In addition, the material is extremely matt, due to its low light reflection. Fenix® NTM is also antibacterial, fingerprint-proof and takes on the temperature of the environment. This makes the material very soft to the touch and makes it very popular for table tops, counter tops or desktops.

With us, you can order customised MDF with a high-quality HPL top layer, often in different thicknesses. You can easily specify the desired thickness in the product configurator. Machining MDF boards with an HPL topcoat

The core of this board material is MDF. MDF is easy to process and assemble. The HPL top layer does require a little more attention. When you mill or saw MDF, the material does not splinter, but the HPL top layer requires a little more attention during processing. Sharp and fine-toothed tools are important. Therefore, have it professionally sawn to size by us, to guarantee a smooth result. Because of the sawing, the edges are 'open'. These still need to be finished, which can be done with ABS tape.

HPL is a finished top layer. The advantage of this is that you do not need to paint or finish it. Therefore, plan the assembly in advance: it is more difficult to conceal the joints afterwards. Think for example of assembly from the bottom or the inside.

Specific applications of MDF with an HPL topcoat

MDF with an HPL top layer is the material of choice for furniture and interior applications. Its homogeneous structure makes MDF, in comparison to other board materials, less susceptible to shrinking and expanding at varying temperatures. Due to the interior gluing of standard MDF, this material is not suitable for applications in wet rooms or outdoors.

MDF with an HPL top layer is ideally suited for table tops, kitchen cupboards, counter tops and desktops. It is very popular for making furniture in general. So don't be limited by this list of examples!

Alternatives to MDF boards

Is MDF HPL 0720 Nero Ingo not the right type of wood for your job? Looking for board material with a grain? Then go for poplar plywood. Looking for board material that can be used outdoors? Then take a look at phenolic plywood, MDF tricoya or multiplex okoumé. Or view our other MDF panels with an HPL top layer here:
