MDF Water-resistant Oak box print veneer: what is it?
MDF moisture-resistant is a widely applicable board suitable for a variety of interior panelling applications where the space is humid, such as in bathrooms and kitchens. The V313 characteristic comes from the test for moisture resistance that the board material undergoes, called V313. It indicates that the board is not only moisture-resistant, but also water- and mould-resistant. Note that the board is not waterproof! Moisture-resistant MDF boards are composed of dried wood fibres and glue. These wood fibres are then compressed under high pressure and temperatures to form an MDF board. In MDF moisture-resistant, a special, moisture-resistant type of glue is used. To enhance the moisture-resistant properties, the material is pressed under a higher pressure compared to MDF blank. The extra-hard pressing makes this type of wood easy to work with. Moisture-resistant MDF boards can be recognised by their green core. MDF Water-resistant Oak box print veneer is not suitable for outdoor use.
MDF Water-resistant Oak box print veneer, sheet material with a natural topcoat
Unlike melamine faced board material, the top layer of veneered panels is a layer of real wood. This gives the material a peaceful, natural look. Because it is a natural product, there may be differences in colour and structure between different panels. No two panels are the same. In addition, it is important that this panel is finished with a varnish or oil as desired. This prevents discolouration and preserves the top layer.
The great advantage of veneered board material compared to solid board material is that it does not warp. The MDF core of this board material gives it the advantages of MDF, but the appearance of solid and natural wood.
Oak box print
The pattern "Oak box print" refers to a decorative technique used to mimic the appearance of oak end grain on other materials, such as veneers. The pattern is designed to replicate the characteristic look of the cross-section of oak with its recognisable annual rings and grain.
The oak end-printed pattern uses an image of the end grain of an oak board or boards to create a realistic representation of the wood. This image is then printed or applied to another material to mimic the appearance of oak. The printing technique can vary depending on the material used.
Oak head printed images can vary in terms of colour, grain pattern and texture, creating different oak looks. For example, some variants mimic light oak with subtle grain, while others can have more rustic looks with darker grain and knots.
This pattern is popular in various applications, including flooring, furniture, wall panels and decorative elements. It offers an affordable and versatile alternative to real oak and allows people to incorporate the warm and natural look of oak into their interiors without using real wood.
Available thicknesses of MDF Water-resistant Oak box print veneer
MDF damp-proofing boards can be ordered online in various thicknesses. So you can be sure that the board material meets your requirements: both the format and the thickness of the material. The following thicknesses are available: 19 mm.
Processing of MDF damp-proofing boards
MDF is very easy to process: when milled and sawn, the material does not splinter. To do justice to the moisture-resistant properties of moisture-resistant MDF, it is important to seal the board properly. The top and bottom sides can be sealed with a primer or a lacquer coating. The ends deserve some extra attention. MDF fibres have an inherent suction effect. In the case of MDF moisture-resistant, this is less than for blank MDF, yet it is still important to treat these with an edge sealer. In addition, primer acts as an adhesive, which makes the final coat of paint more attractive.
Specific applications of MDF Water-resistant Oak box print veneer
MDF is the material of choice for furniture and interior applications. This can be a cupboard, a wall or an entire casing. With this moisture-resistant variant, the furniture is also suitable for the bathroom, garage or kitchen. Examples of projects are a partition wall in the bathroom or a window sill. Thanks to the decorative top layer of real wood, MDF Water-resistant Oak box print veneer is ideal for making bathroom furniture, kitchen cabinets and other furniture that is regularly exposed to high humidity.
