Description
Plywood Poplar white primed boards can be applied for many different projects. Plywood Poplar water-resistant, the name is explanatory, is poplar wood that is waterproof glued. This makes it a suitable alternative to the well-known Okoumé or marine plywood. Because poplar grows quickly, these boards are reputed to be more durable than plywood Okoumé boards. What is important: poplar is a soft wood, so it is important to treat these panels properly when using them (outdoors). Another advantage of this panel: this variant is finished with a primer on the top and underside of the panel. This allows you to quickly start painting or varnishing. The edges are not primed; these need some extra attention.

Plywood Poplar water-resistant: what is it?
Plywood Poplar water-resistant is the plywood variant that is resistant to moisture and is therefore used for outdoor applications or in damp rooms. As with plywood birch, okoumé and hardwood, the panel is glued with a waterproof adhesive. Plywood Poplar water-resistantis a type of plywood that exceeds the durability of Birch, Hardwood and Okoumé plywood because it is a fast-growing wood species that grows in a certified forest. Thus, it meets all the requirements of our time. This board material is FSC certified, features CE2+ and a low Carbon Footprint. But of course, you can also choose the board for its beautiful appearance, and the fact that it is easy to work with.
Plywood is composed of several layers of veneer. These layers are cross-glued to each other. This generally results in a stable panel, however, temperature influences or release of tension can cause the panel to warp. Furthermore, plywood panels have an attractive edge.
A primer topcoat
Plywood Poplar white primed is a structural panel. This means that this panel material still needs the necessary finishing before it can be used for visible work. However, this variant of plywood does have, as the name suggests, a primer top layer. This is a thin paint layer that ensures that the suction of the paint is less than when the material does not have a primer layer. It is important to sand this board material well before finishing it. Sanding makes degreasing less important, but it may also be necessary. The edges of this board material are not finished and do not have this white layer. Finish the edges with an edge sealer before painting the board.
Available thicknesses from Plywood Poplar water-resistant
Plywood can be ordered in different thicknesses. You can easily indicate your desired thickness during the ordering process. This way, you can be sure that the plywood meets your requirements: both the size and thickness of the material. The following thicknesses are available: 10 mm, 12 mm, 15 mm, 18 mm and 22 mm.
Machining of Plywood Poplar water-resistant boards
Poplar is by itself a soft panel material. It works well when you have sharp tools. For drilling holes, we recommend a wood drill with a centring point. Pre-drilling is also recommended for this panel material. This board material may discolour over time, so finish it with a (clear) lacquer, stain or paint. Use an edge sealer to finish the edges of plywood, this will prevent the lacquer or stain from soaking into the plywood, which can lead to the veneer layers coming loose. Are you going to deploy Plywood Poplar water-resistant outdoors? Then it is important to seal the edges with an edge sealer. To enjoy the project outdoors for a long time, this board material still needs protection against damp weather conditions.
Specific uses of Plywood Poplar water-resistant
